It is causing all that, and well done for correctly identifying the root cause. I guess the question here is that, if it's not the multifarious gods of human history causing all this magic to happen... what is? And what about Catholic saints and so forth? They've often got historicity on their side regarding their existence, but according to this, beseeching them to intercede on one's behalf has to work (considering that's what magic does - intercede on your behalf). Is it some kind of "the real power lies within you" thing and we have to deal with the upshot, which is that humanity as a whole is going through some kind of immense change that will result in us being a species of immensely powerful mages and psionics that we don't fully understand how to use yet? Because then humanity would need constant guardians and constant research into the paranormal and OH.

Age (I'm going to set it as 10-18):16
History(Optional): Not really that keen in giving his backstory, but what he will tell is this:

Shadow was born into a poor family, addicted on every kind of drug you can think of, but still prosperred and ignored his parents as much as possible. His dad tried beating him one day, this was not uncommon but today, Shadow snapped. He took a broom, and deflected the blows with ease, beating him over the head with it. His father backed down a little, and Shadow packed what little posessions he had into a hobo-type rucksack and left the home, showing up at the closest foster home. He waited for years, finally being liked by a family when he was about 8. He came to their home and asked for nothing but a few fencing lessons, even though his parents pamperred him anyway. A good friend of his died to cancer, and he decided to find the key to life, in its eternity. He is very religios kind of person, a Roman Catholic, but seeks eternal life anyway, because in his mind, he wants God to see him, be able to pick him out of a crowd for being him.
Personality(Highly recommended, but optional. Please include any magical/fighting skills/weakness they have here):To be RP'd... But somehow he is very skilled in fencing.

Appearance(Picture/drawing or description):
He is rather short, standing 5'3" and he tried his best to seem taller. His build is rather strong from three years of training, but he likes not to brag too much about his muscles. His hair is a dark red color, and it is cut at about a half an inch on all sides. His eyes have bright red pupils, surrounded by small green rings. His face generally wears a smile, but a weak one at that. He wears a simple t-shirt most of the time, and extremely faded jeans. He wears dull red sneakers to match his jacket, which he wears often, except for during training, which takes up most of his time anyway.

Any particular reason they seek eternal life? (Optional): He wants to find the source of life itself, that would imply not having death hinderance his studies.
Other (Optional): Why is it so ugly?!

colour: Really? I don't really pay much attention to the bit. ^^; Besides, I haven't made a character with only one parent having passed away, so I guess, for me, it seemed not really used. XP Thinking on it now, though, I suppose it really is common with the anime I've watched. Ha ha ha. XD

Please, if your going to make my character's have stuff like that, run it by the user first. Some of use have slight issues with this kind of thing.

Yeah, um, dude? That's not how pupils work. Red irises, yes; hell, there's actually a medical condition that gives people violet irises. But pupils are different.

Look, the eyes work by having light reflected into them, right? The photons impact the rods and cones within the eye and trigger electrical responses, which are sent down the optic nerve into the brain (according to half-remembered GCSE Biology from... Christ, five years ago now, oh God I'm old) which tells you what it is you're seeing. The pupils are where the light gets into your eyes. They are basically holes in your face. That's why we have a cornea, so shit doesn't fall in them or whatever. It's also why they're black, and it's also why the mouth of a cave is black; light isn't being reflected from them. So you can't have red pupils unless they're glowing from the inside, and frankly that would mean he'd be completely frelling blind. Which is cool, the RP needs a Toph, but I don't think that was what you were originally aiming for.
