Also, next time, I wish to be PMed about this instead of humiliated in public. I feel downright embarrassed now. I've apologized, so let's just end this. Too bad, that's not gonna happen. Not really our fault if you feel embarrassed. We, the staff, reprimand people out in the open because as other users read through threads they will notice we don't take kindly to these kind of things. They aren't appreciated, they aren't allowed, and they're just downright bad. If you don't want to be made an example of, you should better keep a leash on your emotions and not make knee-jerk reactions and statements to things. It's that simple. We're not gonna change our moderation style, so either you eventually learn from your mistakes and become a better person for it and move on, or you don't and continue to get in more trouble. Don't play the victim. You did something wrong, you're going to get told off for it. -------------------- Overtaken by Net & Zodi on that track!

But making someone look bad just because they've done something wrong/made a mistake is just not the answer. It could tarnish their chances of redeeming themselves in the future. Trust me on this, I know. I'm not saying you can't punish people for breaking rules. That's perfectly fine. But it's entirely different when you humiliate the person for their wrong doing. Alright, guys. Mod post all up in here.
Regarding the voting fiasco: It's done. It's overwith. We're working on a solution to prevent any future incidents, but we can't change the past. Anyway, Girafarig was going to be the novelty regardless of whether it got in the hunt or not. Its placing was coincidental; additionally, think about it for a moment. If we wanted a Pokemon to be in the SWSH, couldn't we just... not have a poll? Anyway, like I said, there is to be no more discussion on how the poll was rigged or whatever. If you bring it up again, you're being warned. Regarding expressing your disappointment with something: Remember, how you express yourself on this forum is almost solely dependent on the words you use. You are free to express disappointment as long as you do it in a polite manner. As an extreme example, "Aw, Azurites didn't win, we'll beat Malachite next time!" and "fuck you, Malachite, that was unfair" both express the same general point, but there's a clear difference in tone. We do not reject criticism, but we ask that you be constructive about it or, at the very least, not inflammatory. Again, if you don't adhere to this you'll be warned. Hopefully that should be it. Good job to everyone who participated. -------------------- |

Still, I was really hoping for a holiday novelty like Red-Nosed Deerling/Sawsbuck (based off of Rudolf) or something. That would've been so cute. GPX novelties stopped being cliché and boring after Easter Buneary. -------------------- |

The Snowy Girafarig is SOO ADORABLE! <3 *huggles it* Looking forward to hunting it, if we could in the future. Congratulations to those who have won the SWSH, and sorry for those who have lost the SWSH, you can do better next time!

I understand, Rhapsody, and I apologize again. I was just...really disappointed, as I said. But if we had no polls, how would the SWSH Pokemon be decided?
QUOTE GPX novelties stopped being cliché and boring after Easter Buneary. Wha? Easter Buneary and Lopunny are not boring! They're two of my favorite novelties and I think they're adorable. Thanks a bunch to everyone who likes the novelty
I really had a fun time making it. I hope you guys enjoy the shiny as well, once someone finally gets it! @ those who don't like it, it's a shame, but we all have our tastes; right? Maybe next months novelty won't be a disappointment to you c: @Kelleo, they'd be decided by staff members c: This post has been edited by Giraffe A Laugh: Dec 1 2012, 01:21 AM -------------------- [align=center]The help page has loads of useful information!

Seems I missed a lot of interesting novelty additions while I was on sabbatical, so to speak, for more than a year. I'm glad I decided to come back and participate in this hunt. Not only do I get a great looking novelty (I have quite a bias for anything that's blue in any shape or form regardless of how the pokedex categorizes it) but I can now have a go at any new ones I wasn't around to get. I can't wait until it hatches. Here's to next month!

What's so wrong with holiday novelties? I love the idea of them. Nothing, but like I said, it's clichéd because everyone expects an Easter bunny novelty for Easter, just like you're expecting a Rudolph novelty for Christmas. But we get unexpected holiday novelties now. Like Valentacool? Who would expect that for Valentines day. Thus you never know what we're gonna get, and it's a nice surprise. Not just a boring cliché. That's all. This post has been edited by Manticore: Dec 1 2012, 01:37 AM -------------------- |

Simply put, two wrongs don't make a right. As much as I hate dragging things like this out and going on tangents in forum threads, I'm going to tell you a wonderful story about my own self reflection. My first interaction with Big Bidoof was on a different forum. Didn't really know him well, and he was just a Global Moderator there. Me, I was just a Sectional Moderator (similar to GPX+ Moderators here). First time we really interacted, we hated each other. Always butted heads. Almost passionate burning hatred for the other. I was warned and even suspended by him several times, and I still couldn't give less than two shits about him. He probably felt the same about me. In those times where I got in trouble, it DEFINITELY stemmed from the fact that BOTH sides were genuinely doing wrong. I admit to myself my reactions to what happened were way out of line, just as how I can tell with him and the other people involved that they knew they were in the wrong too. These wrongs aren't what is happening right now, it was BOTH sides actually breaking the rules. Just didn't speak for a while, then one day he and Zerxer asked me if I would help them with a site idea they had about Pokémon. Eventually we learned to tolerate the other, and that's pretty much that. Even to this today he does and says a lot of things that irritate the hell out of me, but I accept these things and move on. And likewise, I try my hardest to not completely explode at him (this is something you've not witnessed, as it is something I mostly do in more personal and enclosed situations). Or other people for that matter. I used to yell at people a lot. In person, online too. The latter in situations where I should have been keeping my cool because I was supposed to be moderating. And really, after that whole stupid fiasco and the getting mad at him for things here now. It made me think. Well gosh Whitney, you don't need to yell at people all the time. It's just as bad as never admitting you never did anything wrong and playing the victim. Chill out, woman. Ever since I realised that a couple years ago, I genuinely feel as if I have become a better person. Yes, I've made an ass out of myself many times in private and in public. I'm aware of it. I accepted it, realised what I did wrong, and moved on. I don't dwell on it because I'm comfortable with it. Everybody does stupid shit. It's inevitable. But, if people never had the will to TELL me I was acting out of line it probably would've made it harder for me to accept this. I don't want to undo my mistakes. They made me into who I am now. It's just part of my story. I do not care how much you disagree (and I admit I would be greatly saddened if this post didn't make you seriously think about your life in general), but I think that people being called out on their mistakes is something that needs to happen. And yes, preferably in public. I can tell you right now, it has MUCH MORE of an impact that way. I really hope you see where I'm coming from now. It's not public humiliation. It's just upholding rules and making sure other users know these types of actions aren't acceptable. But I'll be damned if they can't have a profound effect on the person sometimes. So. You can either continue to play the victim. It's a normal reaction to feel embarrassed at something like what just happened. Or, you can look at this post and actually sit there and think a bit. As another human being I encourage you to do this, it will do nothing but help you. And I'm a very observant person. I'll be able to tell in the future if you actually took my advice to heart or not. And just so you know, in places I hang out where I'm not authority.... I still call people out on the things they do. I do it mostly because I want to help them. And many times, in full danger of being reprimanded. My thing is, I never actually break the rules when I do it. -------------------- Overtaken by Net & Zodi on that track!

I'm excited to see what the shiny looks like. Congrats to everyone else who got their shiny in time! Since it can breed now, I'll start breeding my SG so others can get one as well! -------------------- |

And many times, in full danger of being reprimanded. My thing is, I never actually break the rules when I do it. Your story is all fine and dandy. In fact, I can relate. This person and I on another forum hated each other's guts for awhile as well. After I made some changes to myself due to my OWN mistakes, we became friends. And this person even defended me when the staff started picking on me for no good reason. To this day, she still believes I was treated wrongly and so do I. I also tend to call people out on things they do even when I have no authority. I only want to help them too. I know exactly what you're talking about. I've had to go through many changes myself because of what people have told me. But I would never call them out in public for fear of humiliating/hurting them. I learned this the hard way. Also, I'm not playing the victim of anything besides you humiliating me. I apologized earlier for what I'd said. I know I was being rude. I wasn't thinking due to my disappointment and annoyance. GPX novelties stopped being cliché and boring after Easter Buneary. If you ask me, another "icy" version of a non-ice type is boring. Just making elemental bodied pokemon for novelties isn't very original in my eyes. I much prefer the "cliché" novelties like the festive makuhita and ghost types of Christmas. -------------------- {insert witty cunundrum} Credit for my Avatar goes to Mirrored-Shadows on dA! Oh thank heavens they breed! I actually like snow girafarig better than the regular one - which is weird for me, because I usually like yellows much more than blues. I figured if the shiny was awesome I'd be hoarding points for the Prize+ days.
Has anyone seen a shiny yet? Is it too much to hope it's in shades of pink, like the ghost trio shinies? -------------------- |
