Is anyone else having this problem - The open as many windows as you like is stuck at 100 for me in both the users online and my interactions page.
When i go to change it to 250 or 500 and click GO! it goes straight back to 100.. -------------------- |

It is probably an admin's doing. 200 or 300 would be a more reasonable limit. Trying to do 500 is way to much though ... -------------------- |

I'm guessing it was a measure taken to prevent some of the downtime. Not a huge deal; 100's plenty IMO.

500 for my computer with massive memory is easy as - loads in 1min..
Anyway someone has told me it's more than likely intentional to ease the server til the 2nd one is installed. That makes sense to an extent although i thought timeouts and lag was due to over refreshing and the amount of players online. The reason i say this is my daughter plays a few other online games which don't include clicking and when a certain amount of people get online there is a lag and they crash. Funny. I would consider 300 tabs at once already overdoing it... ^-^
Can't you open 100, wait 1-2 seconds and reclick the button ? You still would have your 200-300 tabs to click in one go, but you would give the server a spare second to deal with the connections ? ^^' -------------------- |

Tsukichi - Everyone has different #'s of opening tabs to what THEIR computer can handle..I can certainly do what you said no problem, but iam asking why? When isn't it your computer's memory that is uploading those tabs not the server?
Just curious, iam no expert at all - but with the things i've read(on here and other places) it has alot to do with your own computer. -------------------- |

I don't know much about it myself, but i thought of it after checking RtL's guide and the famous "pipe-lining" thing.
If i understood it well, it means you're requesting multiple simultaneous connections with the server... So, too many people doing that would put a lot of stress on the server, resulting in the lag, error pages (i only get them on Opera, which is the only browser i have configured to allow the thing) and such. Once again, this is only personal thought, and i may be awfully wrong. But I really think the lag has increased (event left aside) since a lot of people have started "massclicking" and following RtL's guide. (Arceus thrasher's for Firefox before that, but it was less advertised ^^) Edit : Yes, i has also to do with what your computer can handle, since even if i'm right, it has to deal with the connections on its end too... And all in all, your little computer will hit the limit way before the server ! But if you take all users together, it might be too much for poor server too, despite all its motivation and good intentions... I can see what your saying but it only happens when events are going on or CM days when over 1000 users are online at once.
Apart from those days we don't experience all these timeouts and lags on the normal days. Many players have been mass clicking for awhile now without such errors(from my experience on here anyway) Anyway this can be closed now - as my question has been answered, thanks. -------------------- |

I'm having the same problem; I normally do 300 at a time and it's starting to bug me.

Glad to see it's not just me. Wish they would put the limit at 200 or so though. Hopefully it changes back to personal choice when the new server is installed.

I'm glad to hear that other people are having the same problem. I'm used to opening 402 tabs at once with no problem. I'm sure it's only going to be a temporary thing for the event (I hope.)

I'm getting this, too. I think it's a server downtime thing.
Also, have people gotten really slow tab loading/closing? It only loads one at a time, and closes only one at a time for me. |

I'm guessing it was a measure taken to prevent some of the downtime. Not a huge deal; 100's plenty IMO. This. Remember, it was all the mass clicking that was causing all the 504's in the first place. -------------------- |

Yeah I'm not sure what all is going on with it but even without the massive tab opening 504's are still just as common

Hopefully this will be fixed soon.
This game is already enough of a time-sink. I can't concentrate on whatever I'm watching/reading if I have to constantly shift my attention and keep opening new tabs, instead of just clicking. This post has been edited by Zaltys: Jun 23 2010, 01:58 AM -------------------- |

But, once again, can't you just click the opening button several times >?<
Also, i don't know if it works for all browsers, but on both Firefox and Opera, when i click that button in the Online list, as long as i don't click anywhere else on that page, i just have to hit space to redo the action. So, i open tabs, wait for them to load, hit space, click the first 100, then the second who have loaded by then. And when i'm back on the list page, i just have to hit space again, no mouse-shifting whatsoever, because the focus is still on the button. -------------------- |

As was said, it's probably a measure to keep the site from dying. It's not meant to handle so much. It might be "fixed" when the server goes up, might not. Just learn to live with it. I'm gonna close this now, to prevent anymore "YEAH I HOPE THIS GETS FIXED" posts.
