meh.

Name: Terrence 'Beat' Braunstein

Age: 17

Hometown: Pewter City, Kanto

Appearance: Beat is rather tall for his age at 183 cm and is a bit on the muscular side. His skin has a fair, even tan and his eyes are a light purple. His hair is a light brown-grey, darker brown at the roots, and is held in loose dreadlocks that reach a little past his shoulders. He has a strong jawline, slightly noticeable cheekbones, and some dark brown stubble he doesn't have the heart to shave off. Beat wears a dark red sleeveless shirt with a wide, baggy collar and dark purple lines. His pants are baggy and dark grey with many pockets, held up by a light grey belt with two loops and a small pack attached to the back. Beat wears plain black sandals and has two steel-coloured wrist guards on each arm. His left ear has two silver piercings and he keeps a multitude of silver beads in his hair.

Personality: Beat is fairly laid-back and easygoing, calm in any situation. Nearly impossible to anger, Beat excels at making friends with both humans and Pokemon alike. Although he is nearly an adult, he is still a child at heart and often takes 'play breaks', dropping whatever he is currently doing to go out and have fun. He is also prone to naps and can fall asleep almost anywhere.

In battle, Beat employs a let-them-do-as-they-will tactic - he simply sits back and watches the show, putting a great deal of trust in his Pokemon to do what they feel best. He is a very jovial loser and often treats the victor to food after a battle, never letting a loss get to him. Beat never seems to get depressed and views life like a river - it'll keep going no matter what he does, so he'll kick back and enjoy the current.

Beat gained his nickname from his trademark saying - 'Let it flow to the beat of life.' It was either that or 'Rock Hippy,' and he decided that Beat was the much lesser of two completely stupid nicknames.

Biography: Terrence Braunstein was born in Pewter City, the only child of Melissa and Roger Braunstein. Like most other residents of Pewter he grew up surrounded by rocks and soon developed an eye for rare and valuable stones and gems. As soon as he was old enough to walk without running into the doorframe, Roger started bringing him along to his job at the Pewter City Museum. Terrence took an immediate shine to the fossils kept around the building and, if he was careful, was allowed to carry them from the exhibits to the research labs. As he grew, he spent more and more time with the fossils, and was soon hired by the museum as a junior caretaker.

Shortly before Beat's sixteenth birthday, Roger heard reports of new fossils found in a region to the south, known as Furoh. Roger saw the news as an opportunity for Beat to make more with his life and with Melissa's help began preparing their son for his journey. It took a little over a year of study, cave-diving lessons, and training with Albion before the Braunsteins decided Beat was ready to go to Furoh. The night before he left, Melissa presented him with a gift - a hyperactive Totodile Beat dubbed Rupert, after the Croconaw that worked in the museum as a guard.

On the day of the trip, Beat, his parents, and his Pokemon traveled to Vermillion via Diglett's Cave. After a tearful goodbye (on Roger's part), Beat boarded the ferry bound for Furoh.

Pokemon:

Albion, calm male Onix (level 10)

Ability: Rock Head

Known Moves: Tackle, Harden, Bind, Rock Throw

Items: Beat carries the following either in his pants pockets or his belt's pack:
Steel-grey Pokegear (cards include a map, the current time, a radio, a video phone, a list of rare stones and gems, and a calendar)
    Grey Pokedex
His Pokemon's Pokeballs - Albion's is painted grey and Rupert's is blue
    2 unused Pokeballs
    Two Potions
    Two Antidotes
    Two Escape Ropes
    An extra shirt, grey
    A small blanket, also grey
    Dark red gloves
What is the biscuit's name? The biscuit's name is…Waldorf. I assume someone ate Bertha, then.

Other Notes: On particularly warm days or when he's working and doesn't want his hair in his face, Beat pulls his dreads into a ponytail.

Beat's idol is Steven Stone. At one point he taped a picture of Steven on the inside cover of his Pokegear. He thinks this is highly embarrassing, but the tape he used was a super-bond kind and now he can't get the picture out.

Beat once played drums for a 'rock' band called Pewter City Stoners. Brock broke them up because the puns and inappropriate name was starting to annoy people.

Well, here we go. I've never RPed before, but my twin brother (Lux Cruxis) gave me a crash course while he was ill. I hope I have the pleasure of writing with you all.
