They've been spread out for a while. Mari and Grovyle (and Cleffa and Gallade) got separated from Sharpedo, Kadabra, Magikarp and Ryan. Chapter 5 showed what happened to Mari and Grovyle. Chapter 6 will show what happened to the people who got left behind. It has nothing to do with Side B.
