I think that in order to prevent an overflow of really rare/novel pokemon, a restriction should be put on them for the number of times that pokemon may breed. say like after 10 eggs from that pokemon, it can't breed any more. i guess it is like getting your cat fixed after the first litter, but mandatory anyway, just something to look into.

IMO I don't think many people will agree with this
Novelty's are already hard to come by; even with breeding theirs only a small chance Novelty's will show up as an egg. Putting a limit on them might make it even worse for other people trying to find them who don't have that novelty. And if you really don't want that Pokemon to breed anymore, then leave it in the Daycare for a week without abandoning the eggs and it won't breed. From the Help page: QUOTE Breeding in GPXPlus is a bit more complicated than it is in Pokémon games, however. It still depends on Egg Groups, but there are a few other factors as well that are important to breeding, including:
-How close they are in level -Their rarities -How many of that egg there are in the Shelter already. This post has been edited by Icy Sapphire: Jul 23 2010, 07:48 PM -------------------- |

This would hurt new members more than help anything. As more and more users join every day, some of the more rare novelties that aren't bred and harder and harder to come by. Putting a limit on how many eggs they can produce really puts a damper on their already small populations. And when I'm talking small, I'm talking pokemon like Bidofo, Crystal Onix, and the clones. There are plenty of people who just collect and don't breed as it is. If I want to try and produce as many squirtle clones as I can to help out other users, I would only be able to help a maximum of 10 people. If none of them breed the clone, then that's the end of my chain of clones right there.
A limit could potentially kill the population of breedable novelties. -------------------- |

Frankly, I don't think anyone wants to have to keep dropping and searching for novelties just so they can shiny hunt for one through breeding. Furthermore, we already have limits thrown onto the amount of each novelty we're allowed to grab from the shelter, so it's not like the excessive amount of Dracowymsy are going to bother you forever. Simply grab 6 - one for each form - and whollah, they won't appear anymore. =P

Really bad idea. Can you explain how this would help anyone or anything? Noveltys breed none novelty eggs most of time meaning if they could only breed a certain number of eggs many noveltys would never breed a single novelty egg making them near impossible for anyone to get. What would be point in noveltys not breeding novelty eggs every time if they are limited to only breeding set amount of eggs?
Also why shouldn't people be able to try for shiny noveltys? If this idea was put in place no one could try for shinies. -------------------- |

Aren't novelties harder to breed already? Things like Clone Bulbasaur have a much higher chance of breeding regular Bulbasaur, and yeah, basically, everything everyone else has said already.

I have a suggestion to deal with this problem, at least the large numbers of Slime Slugma: change Pudding Vat to requiring five.

Why is that bad though? People love the rush of getting a novelty, regardless of how common it is - myself included.

Why would you want to block a chance of getting any Novelty? If you don't want it just don't pick it up. And really I don't think a breeding limit is needed/wanted. So what if there's a mass number of novelties, if people didn't want them they just wouldn't get them. You're not required to try and snatch a Novelty you see in the shelter :P

well, shouldn't novelties be harder to get than very rares? the name makes it sound that way.

Depends.
They are mostly more difficult to obtain than summonables, but they're definitively more frequent and easy-to-get than any "event-only" Pokémon like Mew or Jirachi... ^^' (Yes, they can appear in the Lab sometimes. Hence the quotation marks on "event-only". x3) As for their names, "Novelty" only means it's new, not taken from the game. There is no indication of rarity whatsoever in the name. ^^' This post has been edited by Tsukichi: Jul 29 2010, 07:17 PM -------------------- |

well, shouldn't novelties be harder to get than very rares? the name makes it sound that way. What. The. Hell. No! Plus, I don't see the point in this idea. If more people get novelties, they can fill their egg/pokedex easier...Like, Dracowymsy helps the Mythical Beasts achievement. And breeding achievements require novelties. -------------------- |

I think some kind of restriction should be placed a wymsy and slime slugma cuz they currently seem to be more common than the majority of rare/uncommon eggs.
Actually, they're so common now that nobody adopts them for at least a few minutes. Either that, or there are just a ton of them in the shelter... -------------------- |

As for their names, "Novelty" only means it's new, not taken from the game. There is no indication of rarity whatsoever in the name. ^^' This, a million times. There is nothing wrong with a Novelty being really common. Similarly, there is nothing really wrong with a Novelty being on the Rare side. Now something like this would just never go through anyway so there's really no point to this staying open any longer. -------------------- Overtaken by Net & Zodi on that track!
