I don't know whether to classify this as a question or a suggestion or what, but here goes.
Basically, I have a problem with the breeding system in GTX+, that problem being that it seems to me that it's far too extremely selective, or something. Basically, every couple I've thrown into Daycare with the exception of literally one (the Absol/Shiftry one I'm still using) have totally rejected their partners or never even been friendly towards them. Even the one I'm using says, "The two Pokémon seem somewhat friendly with each other." And that's the friendliest I've ever had a couple. Now of course most of, if not all, the couples I've tried breeding so far were rare/rare or rare/uncommon mixes, which may play into it, but I still can't imagine that it could possibly be like this for all my Pokémon without a reason. I asked some people on the IRC, and some of them were having problems like this too, if that helps my argument any. Well, basically I just want to know whats up, if the breeding system is determined by anything (like natures or something), and how it might be tweaked to possibly make it a little more workable... Thanks -------------------- |

QUOTE Breeding Pokémon Many people use the Daycare to make their Pokémon breed with each other and produce eggs. However, not just any two Pokémon will breed together. In order for two Pokémon to breed, they must be of the opposite genders and be in the same egg group. You can find out which Pokémon is in which egg group(s) by checking the information that you have stored on your Pokédex. While there are some genderless Pokémon, I hear that some of them are able to breed and produce eggs with a certain species of Pokémon. You should check the Daycare about once every hour to see if any eggs have been produced. If any eggs have been produced, you get to pick one of the eggs produced, and then the leftover eggs are sent to the Shelter. It could be because the pokemon you're trying to breed belong to different types. Also, it seems to be somewhat random even then, as my Nidoking and Nidoqueen go through periods of being somewhat friendly and disliking each other. -------------------- |

I hope you meant Types and not Egg Groups because I honestly know how to breed Pokémon. I wrote a guide on it. There's just something different about it here on GTX+ and whatever it is, it's causing me a whole lot of trouble. For further example, I just hatched a Gible (Monster/Dragon) and I tried to put it in Daycare with my Salamence (Dragon) and my Tyranitar (Monster), both of which it gave me, "The two Pokémon can hardly stand to even look at each other" as it has for literally ever single other couple I've put in, with the exception of Absol/Shiftry and couples that just weren't even in the same Egg Group. -------------------- |

Types? Well, Fondue is a fire-type, and my raichu, Cloud is electric. When I tested the couple out at the daycare, they were friendly.
Maybe the levels are too far apart? I know levels play a role in breeding too. -------------------- |

Maybe the levels are too far apart? I know levels play a role in breeding too. Yeah, that's the only other thing I can imagine. And if it is that, the 73 level difference between Salamence and Gible would kinda make sense. It doesn't consider levels to be a problem at all in the cartridge games, though, since I definitely do a lot of breeding of low or newly hatched Pokémon with my lvl 80-something-sugar-daddy Ditto. That still wouldn't account for some of my other couples, unless it's a combination of type (Absol/Shiftry are both Dark, though they were still "friendly" towards each other when Shiftry was a Seedot) and level, which is just a pretty constricted standard to meet for breeding, in my opinion. EDIT: I'm currently going to investigate this further with Altaria/Kingdra. They are in the Flying/Dragon and Water 1/Dragon Egg Groups, respectively, and both share "Dragon," as well as that type. The current level difference between them is 24. The current hate message is, "The two Pokémon can hardly stand to even look at each other." We'll see if they make it happen... Levels do play a role (don't want pedo-pokes, lol) but types do not. And as long as it doesn't say "The two Pokémon are not interested in each other in the slightest," they will breed.

So, is it the closer the level they are, or the higher? Would level 100 pairs get along better than level 10? Just out of curiousity, how friendly is Zergoose and Lola? -------------------- |

How high their level is doesn't matter, just how close they are.
My two: "The two Pokémon get along." However, when I first put them in, it was: "The two Pokémon seem somewhat friendly with each other." So you can't expect to just throw them into the daycare and have what it says be the final result because hey, who likes blind dates? We'll say time is a slight factor. -------------------- Want a rotating avatar like mine? Check out my website: randimg!

None of my indeterminate Pokémon are breeding...
Is there an explanation for this? Some of them are barely 2 levels apart. -------------------- |

My Flareon and Leafeon were very friendly with each other or something, which is the highest I've ever seen, and they were putting out 3 eggs almost every hour.

My two Skorupis are in love.
My message was something like: "The two Pokemon love playing together." They make tons of eggs, and are almost the exact same level. They are also the same nature (lonely) though I'm not sure if that affects anything. *they are taking a break in my PC currently* -------------------- ~ Skorupi Breeder ~ Currently making babies with Pair #2 Help me to raise these Pokemon! I'll try my best to click back! If I click all of your Pokemon/eggs, and you only click one of mine in return, I won't click yours again. It's called "Tit for Tat" and it's a strategy in both game theory and population biology, and you can read all about it on Wikipedia. |

Yes, whether the Pokémon are the exact same or are evolutions of one or the other plays a factor too. Natures do nothing though.

I don't think Mudkip and Squirtle are in the same egg group. >_>

I don't think Mudkip and Squirtle are in the same egg group. >_> They are. Both are Monster, Water 1. Ludocx.. what do you mean it said 'no'? You need to give more info than that because like I said, as long as it doesn't say they show no interest whatsoever, they will breed. -------------------- Want a rotating avatar like mine? You know, your Pokemon could be distant relatives. I think the breeding system does not allow incest.

You know, your Pokemon could be distant relatives. I think the breeding system does not allow incest. In the games it does. One of the best breeding couples I've ever had was two Houndours, a little male one and his lvl 20-30 something mother. -------------------- |
